This e-learning course, accessible through an interactive Learning Management System, trains technicians, supervisors, and other fleet operations staff how to maintain, fuel, and defuel today’s natural gas vehicles.

This course is a prerequisite for technicians who will take Level 2: CNG Fuel System Inspector Training and Level 3: Heavy-Duty NGV Maintenance and Diagnostics Training.

 
Within two business days of registration, students will receive an email with login credentials and instructions on how to access the online course.

Enrolled students will receive 30-day access from the date the login/password is issued. Individuals who have completed the course, and passed the exam, will receive a certificate of completion.



System Requirements:

We highly recommend using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome for the best viewing results. This training is Flash-based and requires the Flash plug-in to be installed on your machine. Please visit the following links for free downloads.

Course Objectives:
 
  • Describe the properties of compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG), and identify the differences as compared to liquid fuels.
  • Describe the differences between dedicated, bi-fuel and dual-fuel NGVs.
  • Describe operation and safety features of a CNG and LNG vehicle, and identify all major low- and
    high-pressure components, their operation and safety precautions.
  • Identify and employ safety precautions and techniques when working with natural gas powered vehicles.
  • Identify CNG and LNG fueling and defueling methods and the related safety precautions.
  • Describe the two types of LNG vehicle systems and their differences.

 
Note: NGV Essentials and Safety Practices E-Learning has no prerequisites.
